Spectrum TB-U1-120MBL ThunderBolt Lightning Detector Utility BL with Backlight – Safety Yellow alerts you to storm activity up to 75 miles away! This new ThunderBolt series features an enhanced back-lit display for extreme low light visibility, as well as Enhanced Squall Line Detection.
The ThunderBolt Utility comes complete with a full range of accessories that allows for maximum flexibility in use and installation. The ThunderBolt unit included in this package is the highest professional-grade portable lightning detector offered by Spectrum.
Over half of lightning strike victims are struck under blue skies, a bolt out of the blue. Lightning can strike 6-10 miles from the leading and retreating edges of a storm. Thunder can only be heard from 2-4 miles from the center of a storm. Therefore, by the time you hear the first clap of thunder, your children and family members have already been at risk from a direct hit from lightning for 30 minutes or more.
The ThunderBolt detects all storm activity within 75 miles. It identifies multiple storm cells, squall lines, and supercells through state-of-the-art lightning warning detection system technology. ThunderBolt communicates though text screens, flashing lights and user-selectable audible tones to give you continuous warnings throughout rapidly changing storm conditions. It provides estimated time of arrival (ETA) at your location and calculates TIME TO CLEAR once a storm is near enough to be a threat.
